Senior Lifters
(20-34 years old)

Meegan Gleeson

Meegan walked into the gym one day to watch a friend train and decided that Olympic weightlifting was the sport in her future. Although a newbie lifter, she has already lifted and totaled in 3 weightlifting meets.

Meegan hails from down under (Australia) and lives in Manhattan.

A popular lifter with a magnetic personality, we expect Megan to attract many new lifters and even more spectators.

Keep lifting Meegan!

David Tieu

David commutes from the Bronx to the Lost Battalion Hall. David has been perfecting his lifting technique with the assistance of Coach Joe Triolo and Len Bacino. Already snatching over bodyweight, we expect David to be a major player on the local weightlifting scene.

His flawless c&j has turned a lot of heads and reminds many old timers of the greatest lifter in the last 100 years, Tommy Kono.

David has lifted in numerous meets and is one of the best young lifters on the team.

John Alston

Former Golden Glove boxer, John lives in Bushwick Brooklyn and commutes to the Lost Battalion Hall on the L train.

A quick learner and natural athlete, he has already medalled in several weightlifting contests.

His power snatch is second to none, and so is his punch.

Recently he has been devoting more time to his bottom position. John is already one of the top lifters on the team.

Knock 'em out John!

Dennis Mitsanis

Former bodybuilder, Dennis has been lifting for two years under Coach Triolo. After winning and placing in several local and regional meets, Dennis has just qualified for the 2007 Empire State Games. When not lifting Dennis works as a personal trainer.

Keep on keeping on Dennis!

Tom Sittinger

An all around athlete and physical fitness buff, Tom correctly decided to focus his energy on the king of sports -- Olympic lifting. Training under Coach Triolo, Tom has already hoisted some hefty weights. We are looking to see Tom compete in his first meet this Summer.

Tom works as an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) for a major New York Hospital.

With the increase in morbid obesity in this country we need more weight trained EMTs like Tom to carry the heavyweights on the new super-sized stretchers.

Jimmy Ellis

Lifting as a 69 kg and 77 kg lifter Jimmy has snatched over bodyweight. It seems like Jimmy is making personal records every week.

With some more training Jimmy could qualify for the American Championships in the near future.

Jimmy is an actor, but there is no make believe on the platform when he lifts.

Hubert Kostro

Hubert started lifting in the summer of 2005 and is quickly mastering the Olympic lifts. He has natural flexibility, speed, and athletic ability, which will serve him well in his first competition.

Hubert is such a dedicated lifter that he'll stop at the gym to train coming from the airport after a 5-hour jet flight. His enthusiasm is contagious.

When not jerking the weights, Hubert is a world-class badminton player.

 Lookin' good Hubert!

Yoon Sohn

Yoon's explosive style and rock-solid bottom position are demonstrative of a natural Olympic lifter.

Training under coach Joe Triolo and assistant coach Jeff Scott, Yoon recently qualified for the 2007 Empire State Games.

Although training barely a year, Yoon is already a power to be reckoned with in the local weightlifting scene.

Popular Yoon is well liked by all.

Jessica Carerro

Coach Triolo thought he died and went to Olympic weightlifting heaven when Jessica strolled into the gym. Naturally strong, genetically gifted, and dedicated to getting stronger, Jessica has shocked the weightlifting world.

Under coach Joe Triolo, she has qualified for and totaled in the 2007 Senior National Weightlifting Championships with less than one-year of Olympic weightlifting experience. Wow!

When not lifting, Jessica works as a NYC Dept of Parks Policewoman.

Keep training Jessica and you will bring the Lost Battalion Hall Weightlifting Team another National Champion.

Oskar Novakovsky

Oskar hails from the Ukraine in the former USSR. Pound-for-pound Oskar is one of our strongest lifters. He recently competed in the 2005 New York State Empire State Games and at meets in Connecticut and New Jersey.

The entertaining and irrepressible Oskar lights up the platform when he lifts.
